The Ferryman was the child of the Machinist, a well-known Xgieyan engineer, and the two of them lived on the seas, traveling from city to city to do odd jobs to make ends meet. Unbeknownst to the Ferryman, their father was wanted by the Nemilobyl syndicate after attempting to stage a coup on its leadership, which had required a talent which had not gone unnoticed. The Madero family sent a team to recruit him in order to aid their efforts, and, in doing so, tricked the Ferryman into allowing them onboard their father’s cargo ship. After he refused their offer, they mortally wounded him and burned down the ship, and he perished later that night. Racked in anger, bitterness, and sorrow and burdened by a sense of responsibility for what happened, the Ferryman swore revenge against the Madero family. One fateful day, Suyak, leader of the Ceyvant Empire, approached them with an offer. If the Ferryman helped them with their plans, Suyak would eradicate the Madero family for them. The Ferryman, desperate to achieve their goals, was quick to agree, and they now complete whatever tasks Suyak asks of them. In their eyes, it’s for a just cause.
Their appearance is nearly entirely concealed by their long, black clothing and the metal mask which they wear, modeled in the style of an oni.
